The music awards season is upon us once again! Here is a guide to some of the most prestigious ceremonies, when they are happening, and who is nominated.

The Grammy Awards are the biggest night in music. They will be held on February 15, 2016 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles and will be hosted by LL Cool J. Album of the Year nominees are:

-Sound & Color by Alabama Shakes
-Traveller by Chris Stapleton
-1989 by Taylor Swift

The Brit Awards are the British equivalent of the Grammys and take place on February 24, 2016 at The O2 Arena in London. Nominations have not yet been announced, but last year’s big winners were Ed Sheeran (Best Male Solo Artist), Sam Smith (Best New Artist), and Beyoncé (Global Success Award). Previous winners include Adele, One Direction, Amy Winehouse, and Coldplay.

The Juno Awards are Canada’s premier music awards and will be handed out on April 3, 2016 in Calgary, Alberta. This year’s nominees have not yet been announced, but last year’s big winners were Shawn Mendes (Breakthrough Artist of the Year), Tobias Jesso Jr. (Songwriter of the Year), and Arcade Fire (Group of the Year).

The Billboard Music Awards honor chart success in many genres and are presented by Billboard magazine. They will take place on May 22, 2016 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas and will be hosted by Ludacris and Ciara. The Grammy Awards

The Billboard Music Awards

The Billboard Music Awards is an annual event that honors the top achievers in the music industry. This year’s awards show will be held on Sunday, May 22, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. Hosted by Ludacris and Ciara, the show will feature performances by Justin Bieber, Rihanna, DNCE, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani, and more.

The American Music Awards

The American Music Awards (AMAs) is an annual American music awards show, typically held in the fall, created by Dick Clark in 1973 for ABC when the network’s contract to air the Grammy Awards expired. It is the first of the Big Three music award shows held annually (along with the Grammy Awards and the Billboard Music Awards), preceding the CMAs. The American Music Awards show has been held annually since its inception in 1973. The 2016 show will be broadcast live on ABC on Sunday, November 20th at 8pm EST/7pm CST.

The MTV Video Music Awards

The MTV Video Music Awards, VMAs for short, are awards given out annually by MTV to honor the best in music video. The 2016 VMAs will be held on Sunday, August 28, at Madison Square Garden in New York City. This will be the first time the VMAs have been held in New York City since 2009, when they were held at Radio City Music Hall.

The Country Music Association Awards

The 50th annual Country Music Association Awards will be broadcast live from Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena on Nov. 2, 2016, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. The awards show will feature performances by some of today’s top country acts, as well as a special tribute to Dolly Parton.

The iHeartRadio Music Awards

The iHeartRadio Music Awards is an annual awards show that honors music played on iHeartRadio stations as well as the year’s most popular artists across all genres, voted on by listeners. The show will air live on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at 8pm ET/5pm PT on TBS, TNT and truTV.

The Academy of Country Music Awards

The Academy of Country Music Awards is an annual awards show that was first held in 1966, honoring the best in country music. The awards are voted on by members of the Academy of Country Music, and are given in various categories, such as male and female vocalist of the year, band of the year, and album of the year. The show is typically held in early April, and is broadcast live on CBS.

The Brit Awards

The Brit Awards will take place on 24th February 2016 at the O2 Arena in London. The awards are voted for by the public and recognise achievement in British music. The Brit Awards are one of the most important nights in the British music calendar, and offer a fantastic opportunity to see some of the biggest names in music performing live.
